
GIANT CLAMS CONSERVATION
The wild stock of Giant Clams are decreasing due to illegal harvesting.
SIKAT in partnership with the LGU of Romblon and the following People’s Organizations: Brgy. Ginablan (GIFA, Inc.), Brgy. Mapula (MUFA), Brgy. Agnay (ADPROMAPI), Brgy. Lonos (PAMMBALO), Brgy. Logbon (SAMMALO), joined together in protecting the remaining wild clams.
Fishers volunteered to identify and collect wild giant clams and initiated transplantation to Marine Protected Areas. The transplantation was done last October 2007 in five (5) MPA sites in Romblon municipality in the following barangays: Ginablan, Mapula, Agnay, Lonos and Logbon.

SEA TURTLES CONSERVATION
SIKAT, DENR and LGU joined together in the implementation of Sea turtles (Pawikan) Conservation Project at Brgy. Agpanabat, Romblon, Romblon.
Pamalakaya At Wastong Ingat sa Karagatan ng Agpanabat na Nangangalaga (PAWIKAN Inc.), SIKAT’s partner People’s Organization in the Sea Turtle Conservation Project able to release eleven 6-month old green sea turtles during the celebration of Barangay Fiesta last April 25, 2008.
Another six (6) sea turtles were released last May 11, 2008 witnessed by Romblon Congressman Eleandro Jesus “BUDOY” Madrona with community people of Agpanabat.

COMMUNITY BASED WATER SYSTEM
The island of Brgy. Cobrador lies at the northern part of the municipality of Romblon.
The people rely on rain water as main source of their water supply.
To lessen the vulnerability of the communities, SIKAT through its local partner fisherfolk organization SAMANASEKAP Inc., entered into partnership with the Peace and Equity Foundation (PEF) in providing accessible water supply for each household in the island. PEF provided a grant amounting to Php419,943.00 for 100 units of rain collector.
